Thank you notes- Don't forget them!!

Do you know how great it is to get a nice note from someone after meeting with them? Since being in my role as a recruiter, where I meet dozens of people a week, I've gotten a few different types of Thank You notes... and every single one has been MUCH appreciated- and I usually only meet with you for 30 minutes! Can you imagine how nice it would be- and how much better you'd look- if you sent a nice, well thought out note, to EVERY person you interview with, or even meet with (how touched would the receptionist be if you thought of her after your meeting?).

And these notes are easy if you properly prepare yourself- make sure to listen carefully during your meeting to get information you can refer to in the TYN, get the contact info for everyone you meet (at least the correct spellings of their names), and write down notes (if not in the interview, right after).

This graphic (sorry its a Thankgiving Theme.. I couldn't wait until November) has some good thoughts, although I don't know how I feel about a TYN Video... But if I can add some "Do"s and "Don't"s:
Do:
Send individual notes if you meet more than one person (how you would feel if you found out you had the exact same note as your friend?)
Spell check, and even have an extra set of eyes review your note
Don't:
Go too overboard in formalities (be aware that some people get turned off with certain turns-of-phrase like "warmest regards"- keep it simple- "sincerly" is always ok)
Write the note from your smart phone (too many candidates have found out their auto-correct has foiled them, or sent an incomplete note unwittingly)

Welcome, Spring!

With Spring, we all expect- or hope for- a new-fresh start.  Flowers are blooming, the sun is out... often times, its the New Years season and the start of Spring that bring on all kinds of "changes" or "resolution" or just "something else".

Congrats to Ms. Kim who is expecting a really really big change... in the form of an official offer letter to work with a new financial services company. With this role Kim will be able to blend her aptitude for finance, customer focus from helping clients, and her desire to move more into the administrative world as an EA. Sometimes good things take time and the really good things are worth the wait, and Kim can talk about that first hand! She has been waiting a while for this to come to fruition, but thanks to her patience, she'll be ringing in Spring in the best way!!

Ms. Jessica also desrves a big round of applause- she started her new position a few weeks ago and we've heard nothing but terrific feedback! This client took a chance on Jessica, bringing her on in a temp-to-perm role, and Jessica took a chance on them- anything is better than shoes!!!! I am confident this is going to work out swimmingly! Yeah, Jessica!!

In Boston, Spring also brings back Baseball! I for one am too excited to wait, so I'm definitely excited for my first Sox game of the season on Friday! In light of that fact, not having anything to do with job searching or anything like that, here is article with advice on the most important topic of the week- Boston Red Sox Games. Seems that the Sox aren't drawing in as many fans as they'd like, maybe its due to the weather that has been dreadful so far this year, or other concerns on the team, but they're trying to bring people in during April with a couple of planned events. I'm hoping to take advantage of those promotions, because I was going to go anyways... Go SOX!
